The ongoing transformation of Oriel Park took another key step forward this week, with work beginning on the removal of the existing synthetic pitch. The upgrade forms part of a series of improvements at the stadium and remains in close correlation of the club receiving its Premier Division licence from the Football Association of Ireland.

Dundalk FC Executive Director Chris Clinton said the club is optimistic that the new pitch will be completed before Christmas, weather permitting.

“This is an important milestone as we continue to enhance Oriel Park ahead of our return to the top flight,” said Mr Clinton. “Further upgrades are planned in the weeks ahead as part of our broader improvement programme.”

At its first meeting, the newly constituted Management Board also reviewed the club’s financial position. The audited 2024 accounts recorded a loss of €900,000 — a figure the new ownership group is determined to address through renewed focus and tighter management.

“We want Dundalk FC to be managed in a different and more sustainable way,” added Mr Clinton. “While 2024 presented challenges, we expect an improvement in 2025, and our goal for 2026 is to reach a breakeven position.”

Mr Clinton also said that a number of supporter and sponsor initiatives are being developed.

“We’ve had a very positive start, with strong engagement from the Management Board,” he said. “We’re building constructive partnerships with our fans and commercial partners as we plan for a bright future on and off the pitch.”
