Bohemian FC 1-1 Dundalk FC

Dundalk FC left Dalymount Park on Friday night feeling they should have taken all three points, but Ciaran Kilduff’s side produced another excellent performance as they continue their impressive return to the Premier Division.

A second-half header from Gbemi Arubi cancelled out Patrick Hickey’s opener for Bohemians, but in truth, the Lilywhites’ energetic display—despite a lengthy injury list—warranted far more than a single point.

Bohs began brightly with Ross Tierney finding Colm Whelan early on, but Enda Minogue was equal to the effort— with Dundalk’s keeper continuing his good form shown from the Sligo Rovers match.

From that moment, Dundalk came into the game. Harry Groome forced Kacper Chorazka into a close-range stop inside five minutes, and backed by a loud travelling support in the Mono Stand, Dundalk dictated possession and tempo, looking the more likely side to strike first.

But against the run of play, Bohs struck on 21 minutes. A short free kick allowed Markuss Strods to cross for Patrick Hickey, who headed home from close range.

Dundalk continued to push forward with purpose, and by half-time, Dundalk looked the stronger outfit, more inventive and cohesive than the league leaders.

In the second half, Dundalk resumed control. Despite losing Mayowa Animasahun to injury on 49 minutes, Kilduff’s men stayed composed and organised.

The breakthrough arrived on 57 minutes when substitute Sean Spaight beat Jordan Flores and produced a perfect cross from the left. When Chorazka hesitated, Arubi pounced—beating the keeper in the air and heading home his third goal of the season.

Moments later, Arubi had a golden chance to put Dundalk ahead after excellent work by Eoin Kenny, but Chorazka denied him with a great save. Bobby Burns also forced a superb save as the Lilywhites dominated.

Bohs produced little in response, aside from a wide free kick from Jordan Flores and a late half-chance for Hugh Martin. Dundalk, however, will feel disappointed not to have secured the three points their performance deserved.
