Dermot Ahern Awarded FAI Honorary Life Membership

Dundalk Football Club would like to congratulate our lifelong supporter Dermot Ahern, who has been awarded an Honorary Life Membership of the FAI.
The former Government Minister and Dundalk native was nominated for the honour by Dundalk FC and was recognised for his contribution to the domestic game at the recent FAI AGM.
Dermot’s keen interest in soccer and excellent reputation led to his appointment as Chairman of the FAI National League Committee in 2021, a position in which he is now serving a third term.
Throughout his political career he remained very close to his native Rock Celtic and Dundalk FC, and advocated for both clubs and for soccer in general.
Having played for Dundalk’s “B” team in his younger years, Dermot has always been an avid fan of Dundalk FC and attends all the club’s home games at Oriel Park, as well as many away games.
Executive Director Chris Clinton said: “Dermot has been a great supporter of this club for many years, and we were proud to nominate him for this award. It is a well-deserved honour. Congratulations from everyone at Dundalk FC.”
