Dundalk U14s End Season in Style with Derby Win

A trip away to local rivals Drogheda for the final game of an exceptional U14 season set the stage for an exciting encounter, with Dundalk looking to retain their undefeated status in the second phase.

The Louth derby began with an aggressive Drogheda side pushing hard for an early goal, but they were denied by a solid Dundalk defence. Within five minutes, a well delivered back post cross from Charlie Franzoni was returned across goal by Artjoms Lubimovs and bundled into the net through a joint effort from Micheal Callan and Logan Hyland, stamping the U14s’ typical style of dominant football on the game.

After some fine combination and one v one play from Conal Whyte, Braiden McCarney, and Charlie Franzoni, Micheal Callan set up captain Logan Hyland for a superb curled finish from outside the box into the top corner, a goal worthy of the occasion.

An uneventful second period saw Drogheda dig in as tensions rose in true derby fashion. An ever hungry Ryan Musgrave added Dundalk’s third, putting himself top of the league’s goal scoring leaderboard and sealing the result.

It was smiles all around after a fiery contest as the season came to a close, with the young Lilywhites maintaining their unbeaten record, a goal set out by the squad after a strong cup run that ended only against eventual winners Shamrock Rovers.

Other highlights of the year include:
