Friday, May 30th | Ferrycarrig Park | Kick-off: 7:45 PM

Dundalk FC make the trip to the south-east tonight for a key First Division clash with Wexford FC at Ferrycarrig Park, as both sides aim to finish strong heading into the mid-season break.

Following a solid run of form, the Lilywhites are looking to extend their momentum and build on last weekend’s performance. The last meeting between the two sides saw Dundalk come out on top with a commanding 3-0 win at Oriel Park, thanks to a dominant second-half display that included a brace from Leo Gaxha and a goal from Sean Keogh.

However, Dundalk boss Ciarán Kilduff is under no illusions about the test that awaits. Wexford come into tonight’s game off the back of a confidence-boosting away win over Bray Wanderers and will be eager to make life difficult on home soil.

Ferrycarrig Park has never been an easy place to go, and Kilduff knows his side will need to be fully focused and committed to get a result.

With the break looming, the goal is clear: sign off the first half of the campaign with another strong performance and three important points on the road. Speaking ahead of the match, Dundalk manager Ciarán Kilduff was under no illusions about the challenge that awaits.

“We're really looking forward to tomorrow's game,” said Kilduff. “Wexford will be a really strong opposition and you never get an easy game down in Ferrycarrig Park. They had a big win themselves last week away to Bray, so I'm sure they'll be really looking forward to a tough game against ourselves – as we are about them.”

Tonight marks Matchday 17 of the campaign, and Dundalk are heading into it with confidence and a strong belief in their direction under Kilduff’s leadership.

“We’re just about to go into the mid-season break and we're very proud of the work we've put in to this point,” he added. “But there's another three points up for grabs tomorrow night, and I'm sure both teams will be doing everything to get them.”

With wins over the likes of Cobh Ramblers and Kerry FC in recent weeks under their belt, Dundalk’s performances have been built on a strong team ethic and week-to-week consistency.

“Confidence is high,” said Kilduff. “We'll be looking for a good performance tomorrow night – that's the basis of what we're trying to do here. I think as a group we've worked hard this week, and we know going down to Wexford tomorrow night is going to take everything we have to get a positive result.”
“But we've acquitted ourselves well so far this season and we expect nothing different for tomorrow night. We're going to go and enjoy the game – and hopefully try and get the three points.”

Team News

Dundalk boss Ciarán Kilduff has provided an update on the squad ahead of tonight’s trip to Wexford.

“We have to assess Conor O'Keeffe again tonight,” Kilduff said. “He's obviously still recovering from the head injury he received in Cobh, so he's a doubt.”

There’s also no return yet for long-term absentees Norman Garbett and Ethen Vaughan, though there’s positive news on the horizon.

“Norman Garbett and Ethen Vaughan are still the two more long-term injuries, but after the break they're getting closer to being back with us. Hopefully we’ll have them not long after.”

On a positive note, Kilduff confirmed that the remainder of the squad is fully fit and pushing for selection.

“Apart from that, we've a full squad to pick from and everyone's hungry and ready to play.”
