MU20s: Dundalk 7-0 Longford Town

Dundalk FC MU20s produced a ruthless attacking display as they swept Longford Town aside with a 7-0 win.

Leo Gaxha opened the scoring after 15 minutes, finishing low into the bottom corner from Cian O’Leary’s cross, before Aaron Keogh doubled the lead on 32 minutes after Longford goalkeeper O’Caheny had initially blocked an effort from O’Leary.

Shayne O’Byrne was called into action in between, making a stunning save to deny Gonzalez, with Longford also striking the crossbar during their best spell of the game.

Dundalk took full control after the break. Gaxha teed up Patrick Ibikunle to finish calmly into the corner on 48 minutes, and within moments he provided another assist for Keogh, who drilled a superb strike home from 22 yards.

Shay Casey made it 5-0 with a powerful effort from the edge of the box on 74 minutes, before Keogh completed his hat-trick a minute later with a composed close-range finish.

Substitute Nnamdi Nnaji rounded off the scoring five minutes from time after a goalmouth scramble, while O’Byrne was again alert in the closing stages to preserve Dundalk’s clean sheet.
