Conor O’Keeffe has committed his future to Dundalk FC after signing a new contract that will see him remain at Oriel Park until the end of the 2026 season.
After a significant first season in black and white, O’Keeffe says the decision to extend his stay was an easy one.
“There was nowhere else I’d really want to go after the season we just had,” he said. “The welcome I got from day one, the history of the club, the fans, the players, the manager – it was a no-brainer for me.”

2025 Reflection
Reflecting on last season, O’Keeffe highlighted the belief instilled by manager Ciarán Kilduff from the very beginning.
“He made it clear to us from day one,” O’Keeffe said. “He just had that belief in you that you could go on and win the title. I personally believed what the manager was saying.”
That message was reinforced by the group assembled ahead of the campaign.
“I think the people he brought into the room were the right people, and I think that’s huge,” he added.
Dundalk’s strong start helped set the tone for the season, with early narrow wins building confidence within a young squad.
“We started the season really well – three 1–0 wins,” O’Keeffe said. “Even in pre-season and the cup game against Drogheda, I just had a feeling there was something there to push for a league title.”
Concussion Setback
On a personal level, the campaign presented challenges, with O’Keeffe suffering a concussion midway through the season that required careful management and a period away from the pitch.
“It was a tough season with ups and downs,” he said. “The concussion halfway through meant trying to get over that, manage it properly and still help the team when I could. I wanted to repay the faith the manager put in me.”
Despite the setback, O’Keeffe remained focused on contributing to the collective goal, and helping Dundalk secure promotion was a defining moment.
“To help get the club back to the Premier Division meant a lot for myself, the club and the fans,” he said. “You could really feel it at home towards the end of the season.”

Versatility an Asset
Known for his versatility across the back line, O’Keeffe is happy to play wherever he’s needed.
“I’m happy to play anywhere the team needs me,” he said. “You’d rather be on the pitch than not, and the more positions you can play, the more you can help the team.”
Looking ahead, O’Keeffe believes Oriel Park can once again be a key factor in the Premier Division.
“When you have nights like we had here last season, it really drives you on,” he said. “Having the fans with us is huge – it’s special, and it makes this a very tough place for teams to come.”
