Dundalk FC is delighted to announce that Shane Tracey has signed his first professional contract with the club.

The 19-year-old midfielder has enjoyed a breakout season at Oriel Park, making 13 league appearances so far, including four starts and continuing to grow in confidence and stature within Ciarán Kilduff’s squad.

Last night, Tracey marked a proud moment in his career with a standout performance in an unfamiliar role, stepping in at left-back during Dundalk’s 3-2 win. Speaking after the match, manager Ciarán Kilduff praised the youngster’s attitude and revealed the news of his new deal:

“Real solid performance. I'm delighted for him and more good news for Shane is he signed a pro contract with us today as well, which is big for him. So, I'm delighted for him. He capped off a great day for him with a great performance as well. Not easy, obviously, but stepping up like we needed him to. So, I'm delighted for him.”

It’s been a steady rise for the Avenue Road native, who signed amateur terms with his hometown club just before the season kicked off. Since then, he’s become a reliable and composed presence in midfield and, more recently, in defense, proving his versatility and value to the team.

While he’s yet to find the net, Tracey’s reading of the game, intelligent passing, and composure in possession have quietly made him one of the most dependable young players in the squad, earning the trust of the coaching staff and growing recognition from supporters.
