Declan McDaid Signs New Contract

Dundalk FC is delighted to confirm that Declan McDaid has signed a new contract extension with the club.

The Glasgow native joined the Lilywhites in the summer of 2024 and has become an important member of the squad, playing a key role in the club's promotion back to the Premier Division before continuing his strong form this season.

McDaid, who has featured in a variety of positions throughout the campaign, said he was thrilled to extend his stay at Oriel Park. "I'm loving it here. I've been here just over a year now and I've really enjoyed it. I wanted to continue that next season, so I'm delighted to get it sorted.

"We've had a good season and we've got a really good squad and a great togetherness around the place. The coaching staff have been brilliant and that's led to our success on the pitch. It made the decision easy because I wanted to be part of it again next year."

Since arriving at Dundalk, McDaid has become a popular figure both on and off the pitch. His versatility has seen him deployed in several different roles this season, always putting the team's needs first.

"I'm becoming James Milner at this point!" he joked. "But I'm just happy to play and help the team. The manager trusts me, which is great to have as a player, and I'm happy to play anywhere when needed."

The 29-year-old has already scored three goals this season and remains focused on helping Dundalk maintain their strong campaign, beginning with Friday night's clash against Sligo Rovers at Oriel Park.

"We beat them 1-0 at home the last time and lost away, so we want to put that right again tomorrow night. We've not won in a few games, so we want to get back to winning ways. It's a big game for us."
