Manager Ciarán Kilduff has confirmed that goalkeeper Conor Kearns will face a lengthy spell on the sidelines after sustaining a significant knee injury in Friday night’s SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division win over Waterford at Oriel Park.
The incident occurred late in the second half and led to a 17-minute stoppage while Kearns received treatment on the pitch before being taken from the field.
Providing an update after the game, Ciaran Kilduff said:
“We made a really good account of ourselves against Waterford, but of course we are thinking of Conor Kearns following his injury. The team and myself have been in contact with Conor and he is receiving great care. It’s obviously a substantial knee injury and he will undergo surgery. This will be followed by an extensive lay-off and rehabilitation period. He has played a big role already at the club. He will have the support of the entire club and everyone wishes him a quick recovery.”
Everyone at Dundalk FC wishes Conor the very best with his surgery and recovery.
