MU14s: Dundalk FC 6-2 Finn Harps

Dundalk U14s continued their strong run with an impressive 6-2 win over Finn Harps, with Finn O’Hara stealing the headlines by scoring a hat-trick for the Lilywhites.

Dundalk made a confident start and were quickly into their rhythm, racing into a 2-0 lead inside the opening 20 minutes. O’Hara opened the scoring after being set up by Melaniphy, before Davey McCormack doubled the advantage with an excellent strike from 30 yards.

Finn Harps’ goalkeeper produced a number of fine saves to keep the score at 2-0 by the end of the opening third, but Dundalk remained in control for long spells.

Harps responded in the second third and pulled a goal back from a rebound, but Dundalk answered well. O’Hara grabbed his second of the game after good work from Luke O’Connor to restore the two-goal cushion.

Harps then produced a moment of their own, as a clever kick-off from their winger caught the Dundalk goalkeeper out, using the strong breeze to lob Fingleton from the halfway line and make it 3-2.

That might have unsettled some teams, but Dundalk stayed calm and never looked in danger of losing control. The Lilywhites saw the game out comfortably and finished strongly, with O’Hara completing his hat-trick before further goals from Kian O’Hanrahan and Sennan Keenan wrapped up an emphatic 6-2 victory.

Another excellent team performance, and another deserved win for Ciaran Shevlin's side.
