New signings Daryl Horgan and Sam Durrant are available for Sunday’s SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division encounter with Shelbourne.

Both players received a warm reception when they were introduced to the crowd before Thursday’s UEFA Europa Conference League game with KA at Oriel Park.

Horgan, who will wear the number 15 shirt, and Durrant, who will take the number 22, both did some work after the game and trained with the squad again on Friday and Saturday.

Speaking after the 2-2 draw, which saw Dundalk make their exit from the competition, Stephen O’Donnell said it was imperative that Dundalk put the disappointment behind them ahead of the clash with a Shels side who are just a point behind the Lilywhites in sixth place.

“It was a great experience for most of our lads, who had never played in Europe until this season so they’ll be all the wiser now after these two rounds and I’m sure they’ll want a bit more of that next year,” he said.

“It’s disappointing to go out but we have a really quick turnaround now and we need to get ready for Shelbourne. It’s a long time since we’ve had a league game because of the run in Europe and we’re into the home straight now so we’re looking forward to Sunday.

“It’s a big game and it’s followed by another home game against Sligo Rovers next Friday so we’re looking forward to the upcoming week.”
