Everybody at Dundalk FC has been left shocked and saddened by the passing of supporter and former club communications officer Colm Crosson.

Colm was a very recognisable and friendly face who attended our matches, home and away, while he was also followed the Republic of Ireland on their travels. In 2016, the BBC caught up with him to recall his memories of Italia ’90.

He held the voluntary role of communications officer at Oriel Park from 2009-2013, working under Gerry Matthews, and was instrumental in the 2010 ‘Bring European Football to Oriel Park’ (BETOP) campaign which saw European football return to Oriel Park for the first time in 19 years.

Speaking at the time of his appointment, Matthews said: “Colm has been a great supporter at Oriel Park since the early 1970s and has stepped forward to assist the club in a voluntary role. He is a welcome addition to the club.”

After a short illness, Colm passed away on Saturday, January 16th. Our condolences go out to his family and friends. A condolences section is available at this link.
