Shane Tracey signs three-year contract

Dundalk FC is delighted to announce that Shane Tracey has signed a new three-year contract, keeping him at Oriel Park until the end of the 2029 season.
A Dundalk native from the Alphonsus Road, Shane returned to the club after almost ten years in the Shelbourne Academy and a spell with Bohemians. He made his Dundalk debut as a substitute in the 3-1 win over Bray Wanderers at the Carlisle Grounds in March 2025, and started the following week against Longford Town at Oriel Park. He has since become an important part of the first team, playing a key role in last season’s promotion win.

This season he has taken the step up to the Premier Division in his stride, and he scored his first goal for the club against St Patrick’s Athletic on Easter Monday.
Speaking after putting pen to paper, Shane said:
“I’m just happy to get it done. It’s been going on for the past couple of months, so it’s a weight off my shoulders and I’m looking forward to next season. I want to knuckle down in pre-season and keep improving.

“A longer contract gives me more space to continue to improve. It’s exciting, to be honest. I’m looking forward to being here for the next few years and doing well.
“I wasn’t expecting to be where I am now. Looking back a couple of years ago, playing in the 20s, it’s been great. I’ve really enjoyed this season. Next year, I want to play as much as I can in the first team and hopefully we can qualify for Europe. It's an exciting time."
Dundalk Football Club would like to thank Peter at Halpin Sports Partnership for his assistance with this process.
