Waterford FC v Dundalk FC: Preview

Dundalk travel to the RSC to take on Waterford FC on Bank Holiday Monday. The match kicks off at 5pm and is live on LOITV. Dundalk will be hoping to bounce back following defeats to Sligo Rovers and Shelbourne. Waterford were beaten 1-0 by Shamrock Rovers at the RSC on Friday, and have since announced the departure of former Dundalk boss Jon Daly.

Speaking after the Shelbourne match on Friday night, Dundalk manager Ciaran Kilduff stated that Dundalk must quickly regroup and “go again” when they travel to face Waterford FC on Monday.

The Lilywhites suffered a frustrating 2-0 defeat to Shelbourne at Oriel Park on Friday night, with both goals coming from set-pieces, but Kilduff said the focus has already shifted to the trip to the RSC.

“It was a very frustrating night from start to finish,” he said. “We did have chances, but we probably just didn’t make the most of them at key moments.

“We’ve started the season quite well, but we’re in a little run now where we’ve been beaten twice in a row for the first time, and it was also the first time we’ve been beaten here in the league.

“Every game in this league is tough, and Monday will be no different. The lads are an honest group, though, and they’ll be back to work straight away, getting ready for Waterford.

“We’ll take it on the chin and go again.”
