Dundalk FC MU17s maintained their perfect start to the season on Sunday as they made it five wins from five with an impressive 5-1 victory over Longford Town at Oriel Park.
The hosts made a bright start and went in front when Tunde Anunlopo finished well after being played through by Jamie Grace. Longford responded quickly, however, and drew level just a few minutes later when Isohola got in behind the Dundalk defence to make it 1-1.
Dundalk reacted in excellent fashion and took control of the game before the break with three more first-half goals. Anunlopo restored the lead with his second of the afternoon, this time with Caelan O’Brien providing the assist. Jamie Grace then got on the scoresheet himself after being set up by Karl Stenson-Browne, before Oisin Smyth added Dundalk’s fourth of the half from a Josh Weldon assist.
Leading 4-1 at the interval, Dundalk returned for the second half determined to stay in control. They dominated possession for long periods while Longford dropped into a compact shape and looked to limit further damage. Although Dundalk continued to create chances, they had to wait until the closing stages to add to their tally.
The fifth goal finally arrived in the 82nd minute following some excellent play down the left-hand side, with Taiye Odusanya providing the final pass for Ricardo Dinu to finish and cap off another strong team performance.
It was another excellent result for Dundalk MU17s, who continue to build momentum with a 100 per cent record intact ahead of their next outing — a Louth Derby clash with Drogheda United.
