O'DONNELL THRILLED BY 'BEST DISPLAY OF THE SEASON'

Stephen O’Donnell described Dundalk’s performance at The Showgrounds on Saturday night as Dundalk’s best of the season to date.

Keith Ward’s 84th-minute winner earned Dundalk their third on the spin, extended the Lilywhites’ unbeaten run to five games, and moved O’Donnell’s men into fourth place in the SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division table, just six points behind leaders Bohemians.

Speaking afterwards, O’Donnell said: “I thought it was our best performance of the season, taking out the first 10 or 15 minutes of the second half.

“Sligo were always going to have a spell, they’re a good team and they’re playing a home, but even though we gave up a couple of chances, I thought we controlled the game and I was very happy with our quality.”
