Shamrock Rovers v Dundalk: Preview

Dundalk FC return to League of Ireland Premier Division action on Friday night with an opening-day trip to Tallaght Stadium to face reigning champions Shamrock Rovers.

Dundalk will travel with a largely full squad available for selection. Luke Mulligan misses out through injury, while TJ Molloy is unavailable due to illness. Harvey Warren will serve a suspension following his red card in last season’s play-off final, and Leo Gaxha continues to make good progress in his recovery from injury sustained last year. All other players are fit and available.

Kilduff Looking Forward to Challenge

Speaking ahead of the game, Manager Ciaran Kilduff said the group are relishing the challenge of opening the campaign against the Champions on their own ground. “The lads are excited,” Kilduff said. “We’ve prepared really well and the opportunity to play the Champions in their own backyard is very exciting. Because of that, it’s no surprise that apart from e has declared themselves fit and ready.”

Pre-Season Preparations

Preparation, he added, has gone exactly as planned over the past number of weeks, with the squad responding well throughout pre-season. “We’ve trained well this week. Pre-season has gone really well and there’s a lot of optimism around the place, but we know the size of the task ahead,” he said.

A Huge Challenge

“I don’t think we could be in a better situation in terms of the club, the staff and the players. We’re in a really good place and we’re really looking forward to a good game. It’s a huge challenge.It should be a great match and a great occasion, and the lads are ready to go.”
