Shelbourne FC v Dundalk FC: Preview

Dundalk will complete their first round of matches with a trip to Tolka Park on Friday evening.

Dundalk manager Ciarán Kilduff says his side will approach Friday’s trip to Shelbourne with confidence as they look to finish the first round of matches on a positive note.

“As we go into our final game of the first round on matchday nine, we’re obviously very happy with how we’ve performed in the majority of our games so far this season. We’re going up against a really tough team in a very difficult fixture and a tough place to go, but we’ll have no fear, as always. We’ll try to do everything right and to the best of our ability, and hopefully that will be enough to get us a positive result.

“We’ve had brilliant travelling support for all of our games so far this season, and it really hasn’t gone unnoticed. We hope tomorrow is more of the same because we’re going to need them.

“I think the players are really excited after the international break. The break probably came at a good time in terms of getting some bodies recovered and getting lads back, although we had a good run of form in terms of results too, so we just hope we can carry on where we left off. Hopefully we’ll have a little bit more depth within the squad, but that will only be confirmed once the lads get through some late fitness tests. We’re looking forward to it."
